Almost Gone – Long Time Gone Quilt

It was so exciting to see this quilt come together today:)!   It was sewn together in six sections.  And it’s a good thing because the blocks are all different sizes.  It was kind of like sewing a puzzle together in sections!

Isn’t that crazy?!  I love sewing different sized blocks together.  It adds so much dimension to the quilt.  I think that is why I like all of Jen Kingwell’s patterns in the first place:)

And here it is all sewn together–

Yea!!!!  Next I added the border–

Not so yea:(   It is funny what a picture will tell you about your color placements. The black has got to go.  Here is another-

Yep, it’s coming out!  But not today because I am heading over to my daughter’s for a fun file folder coloring retreat.  I will definitely post about the fun:)!

Until then, have a super SWEET day!!

P.S.–  if any of you are interested in making this quilt, it is from a pattern booklet I bought online called Long Time Gone by Jen Kingwell. 😊

  1. Wow Tracy ~ that quilt is absolutely stunning! 😍 I’m in awe at how perfect your corners match up. I did some quilting a few years ago, and no matter how much I measured, cut and trimmed…most of them didn’t line up 🤔 Oh well – I read that quilters of years ago always made a few mistakes on purpose…to distract the devil should he enter the house 🤓 So, the way I figure it…I’m pretty safe! 😂 You, my dear, have to think of something else 🤗

      1. I’m glad I could bring a smile to you 😍
Yeah…I’m definitely more of a yarn girl 😊Plus I never really enjoyed the quilting part – love the piecing though 🙂 And we both know why I gave that up 😝 So, all in all, it’s not a big loss to the quilting world 😂

      1. I don’t think I’ll be done by the end of the month, but I’m still happy I participated, and I can’t wait to get it all put together.

  2. The black doesn’t bother me in the least. Life is like that – some light and some dark. It’s scattered around, not bunched up. I wouldn’t take it out, personally, but if it bothers you, then you should. You don’t really have to take off whole borders, just parts, so it will not be so bad.

  3. I’m with Susan, I think the black works just fine. To me it adds some visual punctuation to the piece, some strength in the borders. But of course, if it bothers you a lot you’ll want to take it out – after all, you’re the one living with that gorgeous quilt 🙂

  4. I love your version. I am quite addicted to Jen Kingwell patterns and really loved making this…although I admit it was challenging with real some of those tiny little pieces. Have you made Gypsy Wife yet? I’d love to see it.

    1. Hello quiltgranny! I’m so in love with Jen’s quilts❤️❤️. I have the pattern for Gypsy Wife and plan to make it after Down the Rabbit Hole by Sarah Fielke. Have you joined in on that one? I love meeting like minded quilters. Thanks for dropping by!
