It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

I am so in the holiday mood!  Seriously, working on these I Wish You a Merry QAL Blocks by Alice Samuels Quilt Co. & Sandy Star Designs has really put me in the festive spirit:)!

The first block I worked on was the package block.  It was a bit tricky because I decided to construct it differently than the directions given.

Because I was using polka dot fabric, I really didn’t want seams on the side ribbon. So… I sewed the side and the top in one piece and y-seamed the front square in.

It was tricky trying to find the right angles and fabric placement, but I am very happy with how they turned out:)❤️

I even like my appliqué bows on the top!! What is a package without a bow?

The next block was the SWEET Poinsettia Block.  This one was a breeze to sew together!

I used my handy Quilt in a Day Ruler.  It makes cutting half square triangles so easy!  Just line the size of the finished square line on your seam and the center line on the center seam.cut around, and PRESTO! A perfectly cut square that is all ready to be pressed:)

It doesn’t get much easier than that! Here is a picture of all eight of my blocks together.

Don’t you just feel like singing Jingle Bells?  I do!

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  I hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. Your blocks all look so amazing. Kudos to you for breaking outside the box and doing your own thing. It is, after all, your quilt. Who doesn’t want to take artistic license? I bet all that sewing has put you in the mood. Do I hear the faint sound of Christmas carols coming through the airwaves? 🙂
