Hand Quilt Along Progress

It is time for a Hand Quilt Along update. I am pleased with my progress on my “Mystery of the Salem Quilt Guild” quilt by Crabapple Hill Studios. I work on it in the evenings to relax while watching Netflix with my hubby.

The right half is finished. I love how brilliant the colors look after embroidery. Here is a closer look.

I wonder what those two girls are talking about? Whatever it is, I’m sure it is scandalous!

And what a fun shopping spree these little witches have been on! Can I come along?

I had better not, they might turn me into a frog!

I keep all of my threads wound up on bobbin cards in a box that my mother gave me years and years ago,

It works very well, except that the lid doesn’t lock on, so I have to be very careful to not knock it over. I haven’t had any problems yet, so I must be doing a good job.

I told you about my wonderful standing embroidery hoop last time.

I wonder how I ever embroidered without it? It not only works great for someone with a broken wrist, it also really locks the fabric in tightly.

Broken bones or not, I am going to keep using this hoop!

Now it is time to move on to the food party half of my quilt panel. This food looks like the makings of a fun party. I bet there is a touch of poison in it though….

I doubt I will get this whole food table done before the next update, but I will try to make a dent in it:)

  5. I know what those young witches are talking about…they are trying to figure out a spell or potion that will take all the calories/carbs out of the cupcakes. I think the little green guy is worried that they may need a “toe of toad” to make it work. Love your embroidery. I may look into the HQAL group. I have a small quilt that I haven’t loved enough to finish hand quilting. Maybe it’s time….Also thinking about adding some big stitch HQ to a baby quilt I recently made for another challenge.   7. Thanks for sharing your progress on this project. It is such an “active” piece…there are so many stories going on.

    1. Thank you Chela! I’m glad you like it. I agree with the fun stories that are going on. My wrist is getting better and is now more of an inconvenience than anything. I have 4 more weeks to go. You are so sweet to ask❤️❤️❤️

  8. Such an adorable quilting project – It is going to be fabulous when all completed. I really like the quilting frame you’re using too. When I think about the 3 weeks since posting last, poof – a witches spell and cast off before you know it. Truly – working this quilt with a cast on is a testament to your crafting skill!

  10. Just love all the close-ups and your commentary with them. You shade them in so well! Or is it already there? What do you use if it’s you? (inquiring minds want to know lol) You make me want to pull out my Crabapple Hill embroidery that has mice in sewing rooms!

    1. Thank you Sandra!

      The pattern came on paper which I had to trace onto my fabric and then color with regular crayola crayons shading as I went along. I then set the color by placing a paper towel over the coloring and ironing the wax out.

      I love the technique and have used it quite often on other projects as well❤️❤️.

  13. You’ve done a great job, Tracy. I’m amazed at the difference the stitching makes in the brightness. I guess it brings definition to the coloring. It’s definitely a banner full of fun!

  18. Your work is always spectacular even with the broken wrist dilemma! What a great way to organize your threads. Darn case for not locking closed. Doesn’t know we have enough challenges without it not closing. 🙂
