Hand Quilting Progress

I love quiet evenings watching Netflix with my wonderful husband and hand sewing on a project. I have especially enjoyed embroidering on my “Salem Quilt Guild” little witch party:)

I am very happy with the progress I have made over the past three weeks. The change of colors in these beautiful quilts really took more time than I thought they would, but they turned out so heavenly that it was worth all of the thread changes:)

In addition to the quilt stack, I was able to get the whole banquet table and lazy black cats done as well.

That SWEET little napping cat is just like my little dog. As soon as I lay a quilt down, he is right on top thinking it is all for him!

I really enjoyed sewing all of the festive pumpkins as well.

It wouldn’t be a witch party without pumpkins and a cauldron full of potion!

Yep, it has been a fun few weeks of sewing. I hope the entire table is stitched by our next update. If you do any hand stitching, why don’t you join along? Here’s how:

—This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

  1. I have this quilt idea on my wish list now. I’m currently working through Erica Kaprow’s Summertime Sampler at work (in wool). I often do hand work on breaks, as I can leave the item mid-stitch and come back to it in an hour. It’s so good to get back to it;-).

    1. Hello! It is so nice to meet you:). I just went online and looked at the summertime sampler. Oh my goodness! That one is a beauty! Are you making it with the back back ground? Did you have a kit? I may have to try put this one on MY wish list and we can be quilting twins😊❤️

  2. This is really moving along so well! I am so glad you chose to work on this for the HQAL, I love seeing it every update and all the progress. Did you use variegated thread on the pumpkins or match the shading? They look amazing!

      1. I knew I would need a boost to get that first hand quilting project done, and the HQAL has been the perfect motivator for me, just like the SAL I belong to. Isn’t it amazing how that post looming on the horizon will encourage you to pick a project up, and then the project just takes you along?

      1. yes, and the one curled up in a ball looks just like my Le Bleu. Wouldn’t surprise me if he really was a witch’s cat!

    1. Thank you Tina! This quilt makes me smile with each stitch because of the fun story:) and yes, my cast is off and I am stretching and getting movement back in it. But this is the one project I could work on with my one hand because of the hoop. It really helped to keep me sane during the healing time. ❤️❤️

      1. I’m glad to hear that you’re mended 😍
Good thing you had this beauty to work on while you were healing! 💜 I can’t even imagine going weeks without some sort of needlework 😳
You’re right…any sort of sanity would be in the rearview mirror – and not ‘closer than it appears’ 😉

      1. Yes we definitely have Halloween. Australia pretty much does everything the U.S. does, we’re obsessed with American shows here! lol I already have so many ideas of family costumes to do 😅 pretty excited about it actually!

      1. That is awesome! Netflix QAL – ha!!! Only thing is I like science fiction movies and not everyone is into those. Science Fiction and documentaries are my favorite to hand quilt to! 🙂

      2. Wonderful! Do you have a good sci fi or documentary to recommend? The last documentary we watched was a show called “Fearless” . It is about bull riding. We are now addicted to the PBR! Lol😊. How about if you watch Fearless and I will watch the show you recommend? That sounds fun!!❤️❤️

      3. Okay I will watch Fearless it sounds interesting and when we used to live in Houston we would go to the big rodeo there every year! Bull riding seems like a very scary career – there was a great movie (oh darn I forgot the name) about a bull rider (Scott Eastwood?) romance. Okay I was going to watch the Netflix series Lost in Space for my next sci fi watch – so maybe you can check that one out too 🙂
