Seeing Stars – Wish Upon a Star Blog Hop!

This is “Wish Upon a Star” Blog Hop week, and it is my turn to share with you some “starry” fun!

But first I want to thank Carol @ Just Let Me Quilt for organizing this fun hop. Thank you Carol!

I am excited to share with you my Seeing Red Stars Quilt. It is a Buggy Barn pattern which means fun, fun fun! They have a unique way of cutting where you stack your fabrics, cut, move the top of a few cut piles to the bottom and sew them back together again. The end result looks like this:

I just love all of those scrappy star points:). It is hard to believe they are all made with 12 fat quarters of red and 12 fat quarters of white. CRAZY!

Well, that isn’t exactly true. I also had to make hundreds of secondary stars as well.

I was all “Flying Geesed” out by the end. But it was worth it. Here are a few more SWEET eye candy pictures for you to enjoy:

Isnt quilt candy the best kind of candy? No calories!!❤️❤️

GIVE AWAY!!-

“Seeing Red” is in the book, Crazy or Not by The Buggy Barn.

I am giving away a copy of this book to one lucky reader . All you have to do is leave me a comment letting me know how I shade fabric for applique. (Hint–I blogged about it not too long ago!).

You can get a second entry if you are a follower of my blog. How about a third entry? Follow me on Pinterest or IG. That gives you THREE chances to win. Yea!! Please let me know in your comment if you have one, two, or three chances:)

I will put all of the entries in a bowl and draw a winner one week from today. I will post the winner next Friday.

If you don’t win, or just don’t want to enter this awesome give away, you can get a copy of the book here.

I have so enjoyed sharing a few “starry moments” with you today. I hope you will take a moment or two to go over and see what the other talented bloggers have stitched up for you in their sewing rooms:

    1. Thank you Selina! I’m sorry you weren’t able to get the stars back together again. That cutting, stacking, moving of layers and THEN not letting them fall out of their stacks is definitely a tricky task! I appreciate the applause:)❤️❤️. Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

  1. What a fabulous quilt! Love it!

I’ve used the same technique for blushing the cheeks for my applique projects- works great! You can also use crayons, and then set the color with an iron (use a paper towel between the colors and your iron or ironing board!). Works great, and is washable too.

    Happy quilting!

  2. Wow, your quilt is just stunning! And so much work gone into it… I’m new to your blog so I will look around and find out how you use crayons and blush for shading 🙂 Don’t worry about putting me in the draw, I have too many books….! xx

  3. That is such a wonderful quilt. I always like two-color quilts, and red is a favorite in that category, along with blue … and green. Any two colors with a neutral, really. Great job on this one. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book. i do follow your blog. I do follow you on IG (gingerkwilt). My memory fails a lot lately, but it seems to me you are wild and free and shade fabrics with crayons. And wait, didn’t you use make-up and Q-tips, too? Yes, because I don’t have any make-up! It’s all coming back to me now. =) This has definitely been a great blog hop for star lovers!

    1. Hi Susan! A++ on the memory of shading technique!:). I love the two colored quilts as well. I wonder why I don’t do them very often? I usually add so much color that my quilts could be a carnival in themselves. I’m glad there are only two colors in this starry quilt. It is already loud enough without a bunch of colors fighting for attention as well. Thank you for being my wonderful online friend! You are a 3 entry contestant for sure!!❤️❤️

  4. Your star quilt is amazing–love it! I’ve used the shading technique, Years ago I took a class from Pam Holland and we did a lot of shading and shaping with very lightly pigmented fabric markers. I still use them occasionally–it sure adds a lot to the applique.
