I am excited to share with you my Seeing Red Stars Quilt. It is a Buggy Barn pattern which means fun, fun fun! They have a unique way of cutting where you stack your fabrics, cut, move the top of a few cut piles to the bottom and sew them back together again. The end result looks like this:
I just love all of those scrappy star points:). It is hard to believe they are all made with 12 fat quarters of red and 12 fat quarters of white. CRAZY!
Well, that isn’t exactly true. I also had to make hundreds of secondary stars as well.
I was all “Flying Geesed” out by the end. But it was worth it. Here are a few more SWEET eye candy pictures for you to enjoy:

YOur quilt is wonderful. I tried those stars a couple years ago and bombed completely. Just couldnt’ get the pieces back together, so I applaud your work.

What a fabulous quilt! Love it!
I’ve used the same technique for blushing the cheeks for my applique projects- works great! You can also use crayons, and then set the color with an iron (use a paper towel between the colors and your iron or ironing board!). Works great, and is washable too.

Great idea to use blush a Q-Tip or colors for shading fabric designs. Beautiful red star quilt.

That is such a wonderful quilt. I always like two-color quilts, and red is a favorite in that category, along with blue … and green. Any two colors with a neutral, really. Great job on this one. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book. i do follow your blog. I do follow you on IG (gingerkwilt). My memory fails a lot lately, but it seems to me you are wild and free and shade fabrics with crayons. And wait, didn’t you use make-up and Q-tips, too? Yes, because I don’t have any make-up! It’s all coming back to me now. =) This has definitely been a great blog hop for star lovers!

Hi Susan! A++ on the memory of shading technique!:). I love the two colored quilts as well. I wonder why I don’t do them very often? I usually add so much color that my quilts could be a carnival in themselves. I’m glad there are only two colors in this starry quilt. It is already loud enough without a bunch of colors fighting for attention as well. Thank you for being my wonderful online friend! You are a 3 entry contestant for sure!!❤️❤️

Your star quilt is amazing–love it! I’ve used the shading technique, Years ago I took a class from Pam Holland and we did a lot of shading and shaping with very lightly pigmented fabric markers. I still use them occasionally–it sure adds a lot to the applique.
