Neatly Stacked Piles of Triangle Sunshine

It is August, and it is my favorite time of the year. The rains have come to my Arizona home. Everything is so green and clean smelling. The weather has cooled just a few degrees making it so pleasant. The edge of cooler temperatures is right around the corner. Yes, I love August in Arizona:)❤️

I feel so happy and bright that I think I will make a Yellow and Cream two color quilt. It has been many years since I have only used two colors in a quilt. My usual pallet is bright, mixed with a little bit of brighter. Lol:).

Today, I am feeling yellow. Really, most of the time I feel yellow. Life is so SWEET, but I do not have an all yellow quilt. The time has come. It will be my August Sunshine Quilt:). I bet I will be able to sneak in some of my MYSTERY fabric as well!

The pattern I will be using is from a quilt along challenge by Roseanne @ Home Sewn By Us. There were three patterns to choose from. I have chosen the triangle pattern from Peta at She Quilts a Lot.

I am excited to see how this will look with my happy yellows:). I will not be following the pattern though. I am using my handy Hex and More ruler to help me cut the perfect triangles.

All I have to do is cut a strip the width it says on that bottom tip of the ruler. I chose to cut my strip 4.5″ wide. Next I just place my ruler on the strip and cut one triangle then flip the ruler and cut another. Easy!

I cut them into sets of twelve for each star plus some extra for the sides. Next I have to cut the cream, but after all of this cutting, I just like to step back and enjoy the beauty of nicely cut and stacked fabric. Don’t you?

I am sure that this quilt will sew together in no time at all. My goal is to have it quilted and bound by the end of next month for the MYSTERY reveal. Yea!

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I’m sure it’s not too late to join along in the fun of Roseanne’s Sew Along as well. It’s always fun to sew with friends:)!

  1. Anything that lifts your spirits is good. Yellow and cream wouldn’t do it for me, but turquoise or green and white would! I shall look forward to seeing how this sunny beauty will turn out 🙂

  2. What an interesting pattern. It is criss crossed with a few distinct elements from stars to tumbling blocks to a flirty 3d feel. I think this will be spectacular in the similar color pallet…great choice!

  4. I never cut an entire quilt because it drives me crazy, so I don’t stand back and admire it, either. LOL The minute I saw the yellow, I thought, that’s two times it’s been used. =)

  5. That is a lovely stack of triangles! I have a yellow and cream quilt on my to-do list too. I’ve seen a couple on my internet travels the last week and they are tempting me more and more.
