A Spring Walk In the Desert – CAUTION! Eye Candy Ahead!!

No- this is not a painting. This was my view of the Catalina Mountains on my walk today. Wow! Wow! Wow! It took my breath away.

My husband and I were in a suburb of Tucson, AZ called Oro Valley today. The spring colors were everywhere, and calling for me to get out and enjoy the desert blooms.

Everywhere I looked I was surrounded with brilliant yellow flowers on the cactus and on the Palo Verde trees.

I was also uplifted by the beautiful reds and oranges. They complimented the yellows so nicely.

Whoever said the desert is a barren wasteland, has never been to Northern Tucson. It is lush and green with lots of trees, cacti, and sunshine.

Even the skinny cholla cacti were donning their red blooms today:)

I really am amazed by the beauty of the world we live in. I see the hand of the Master Himself all around me. I feel so blessed! He must really love us to give us such a beautiful world to live in:)

The “crowning” glory of the desert is when the Saguaros bloom and add a crown of flowers to their head and arms.

They are the king of the cacti. It is against the law to destroy one. If you are building and a saguaro is on the building site, you have to hire a professional to come and move it to a new location.

What a wonderful day! It was a T-Sweets Day for sure!!

  1. There’s something about country with an extreme climate of any kind which makes it burst forth in beauty, whether it’s flowers, landscape, sky or snow and ice. What’s marvellous is how diverse it all is. A master hand is indeed at work.

    1. Hi Kate!! I have never thought about it like that before. You are so right! I too love the landscapes we see from
      the result of extreme weather. I’m sure a metaphor could be taken here about extreme trials and how we grow stronger and more vibrant because of them, but I won’t . Lol!!! Thank you so much for your always thoughtful and and insightful comments. You really make me smile❤️❤️❤️😊

    1. Thank you so much!! The desert is my home and I truly do love it❤️❤️. I agree with you though. I appreciate the lovely places that others share of their backyards as well. We live in a very beautiful world! I hope you have a wonderful day:)!

  7. I am an old desert rat having raised my family in the Mojave desert of Cali ~ I love the desert and its phenomenal beauty which you captured in its full glory. I totally agree if you think the desert is a barren landscape of brown dirt – think again 🙂 Loved the posting Tracy! ~ Sharon

  8. Serious eye candy! I too am amazed by the beauty of the world we live in and I try to remember that whenever I hear some sad news. I can imagine all the wonderful warm sun and desert air as you took those photos!

  11. Thanks for the photos. Yes, that’s where I learned to love the desert. We lived down Ina Rd. and La Canada area. I still miss it!

  12. I’m jealous! I love those views of the desert after having lived in AZ for over 30 yrs (Phx metro area, but traveled all over the state), and still miss them after more than 10 yrs away from AZ now. It’s why my screen saver pics are almost all of AZ scenes. =)

  13. Loved all your photos! What an amazing area! Thank you for sharing your spring walk. Here in the Pennines in West Yorkshire, UK my spring walks have been in the woods enjoying the bluebells, and how lush and green it is everywhere now the trees are suddenly all in leaf.
