There are some projects that are slow to take off and finally start to look like anything. This poncho is one of those. I started crocheting with enthusiasm back in March when I left for Thailand. I had hopes of stitching on the long plane ride and maybe on the beach or in my room.
I bought my fancy yarn and eagerly started. I had no idea how truly LARGE this poncho is! It quickly used all of my beautiful yarn. I had to order three times as much yarn. Just turning the poncho on the plane became quite bulky and cumbersome. And Thailand is HOT! My yarn seemed to stick to my hands and needle.
Needless to say, I took a little break from crocheting. By the time I have taken it out again, it is summer here in Arizona. Does 110 plus degrees sound like crochet weather? Nope. But having this huge yarn project next to my bed is just too much.
I’m not that far away from finished. It is time to stitch. I know I will be happy come the fall weather for a quick cover up.
I like to stitch in the evenings while binge watching Netflix or Hulu with my cute hubby.
What are we watching? “Stranger Things” of course! We also like to watch “The Amazing Race”. Life doesn’t get much better than that!
I really am enjoying how my poncho is turning out though.
The long field of double crochet is finally done and the design is finally starting to really show.
I was really happy when I hit the beginning of the neckline. That was like reaching the summit and starting the downhill slope. Yea!
I really do like the design the holes make in the poncho. It seems so trendy.
It is going to be a real beauty, that’s for sure. I am heading on a business trip with my husband this week where we will be doing A LOT of driving. I am going to pack this huge project up and try to get it finished before we make it home. “I think I can, I think I can!!”
We will be driving from Ohio back to Arizona. I’m hoping to persuade him to stop at the Missouri Quilt Star in the way home. Hope, hope, hope,!!! I will take pictures and share if I do:)
Thank you so much for stopping by today. It is always a T-SWEETS day!

Lovely job! It’s going to look great and be so cosy on a cold day – almost enough to make you look forward to winter! I love the texture and colour of that yarn too.

Tracy! This poncho is just gorgeous. I think it is so cool that you were able to work on it across the countries and continents. How many garments of any sort can have that said about them?!! Now you can finish it up across the states – rather fitting, don’t you think?! I hope you get to stop at MSQC!! I’ve always wanted to go – do so for me, and then tell us all about it. ~smile~ Roseanne
