Tessa the Doll and Her Cat

Hello my friends! I have been having so much fun crocheting a doll for my one year old granddaughter. I have fallen in love with this little doll!

Isn’t she so cute?!! I used a pattern from Caro Designs. This doll’s name is Tessa, but I really want to call her “Cleo” after my granddaughter. Don’t you think that matches her better?

Each little piece was so intricate, but the instructions were very well written and easy to follow.

I really liked the method of making the hair strands. The yarn looks like hair, but it isn’t going to tangle. I don’t like stringy, yarny hair.

And that little kitty cat just steals the show! I almost decided to pass on making him because he was so tight and tricky, but I am glad I pushed through. One stitch at a time and it does get done:)

I really appreciated the attention to detail in the pattern. The skirt with the stitching and the cross back, the individually stitched contrasting colored shoes, and the tail and legs of Mr. Cat show the love and effort from the stitcher. Love, love, love!!

It was fun to watch this little doll come to life as I added the hair and then the body and legs to finally the hat dress and cat

She made me smile every step of the way. I made sure to sew down her hat, dress, and the cat to make sure they don’t get lost with little hands playing with them

I was so excited to have my little Cleo open her present and give a big hug to her new doll and chew on the cat and drag her around by the arm, But….

While she did like opening the box and getting her picture taken, she didn’t take too much interest in playing with her. Even my coaxing and introductions didn’t do much for her.

She really liked the the bouncy unicorn that my hubby bought for her much better! Lol:)!

Oh well—. There will be time for dolls in the future. Tessa will be waiting until she is ready. And her mother absolutely LOVES the her!

it was a success by the smile on her face. Maybe we make our masterpieces for the smiles of those who appreciate our love in every stitch. I know I do.

It is now time to say goodbye to my new little friend and cat. It has been a joy to stitch in the evenings and watch her grow. Oh well, I’m sure I will see her playing with the cutest little girl in the world in the future. Life is so SWEET!

Thank you for stopping by today. Please feel free to leave a comment and hit the follow button. It’s always nice to make a new friend:)

  1. oooh Tracey – such a lovely doll & companion cat you crocheted there! I have added designer to my favourites on etsy.
Your version of Tessa is stunning. Beautifully made, with love and care . . . I’m sure Cléo will fall in love with herand that lack of interest the other day was merely because there were too many distractions (that unicorn for one!).

    1. Hello Tialys! You are so right- those little tricky pieces needed more security. It is funny how that works, but once I am finished with a project, I really don’t want to keep sewing it again . —. Thank you for stopping by😊❤️

    1. There are projects like that. The kind that when you see them online, you know you have to make them. I have been looking at CARO designs for a while now and when I finally had a granddaughter, I could hardly wait for her first birthday to make a doll. I am sure there will be one or two more different dolls in my future:). Thank you for stopping by and have a super great day!❤️❤️

  2. Oh, I do love her too! The doll is absolutely priceless like your granddaughter. This doll is such a treasure that will be loved and cherished. I am almost glad she opted for the unicorn….only because as she gets a bit older Tessa will be all that sweeter to her. There are some treasured gifts that need to be caretaked and this is one. For now your daughter can treasure her 🙂

    1. Hi Sharon! Those were my thoughts EXACTLY. In fact, when I showed my sister the doll after I made it, she wanted me to keep it for a few years so Cleo wouldn’t ruin it. I must admit, after all of the tricky stitching, I felt a little that way too. Now, It is going to be on a shelf as a cute decoration in her room for a while. That is perfect! Lol:). I’m so glad you stopped by Sharon! Have a super wonderful day😊❤️❤️❤️
