I Wish You A Merry Quilt Along!

Ho Ho Ho and Merry Christmas!  It is definitely time to start my Christmas sewing:).  I have been watching my online friends Lori@ Quiltingneeds.com and Kathy@Sewing etc., and Desert Suz @Desert Sky Quilts as they started sewing this absolutely adorable Christmas Quilt.

I have been feeling very left out, so I gathered up my fabric and decided to join the party!   I went over to  Inquiring Quilter.com and printed up the FREE patterns and started sewing along.  I only had to make four blocks.   No problem!!!

The snow flake block was a breeze to make with the interface method of appliqué.

I just placed the right side of my fabric to the sticky side of the interfacing and sewed around.   I cut the interfacing side and turned the fabric right side out.

I was able to iron the pieces down and then sew around them.  Isn’t it pretty?

Next I sewed the tree block.  The polka dots were a bit tricky. I didn’t realize there was a direction to those dots!   I only had to take out a couple of them to get them all pointing the right way:)

To make the actual trees I used my tri-Recs ruler.  It made the sewing a breeze!

I cut the strips 1/2″ larger than my desired finished square.  The templates made for easy cutting and then it was a case of lining everything up on my preview board and sewing. Perfect!

And what would Christmas be without Santas red suit and black belt?  Really, this is the block that sold me on this QAL.  It is so dang cute!  I had to plan for those Stripes as I was cutting, but I really like how they turned out;)❤️

My final block was the ornaments block.  I don’t know why, but choosing the fabrics always takes twice as long as the actual sewing!  I even tried different sewing thread and finally decided on the black because it made my ornaments pop off the page.

I have been doing a lot needle turn appliqué on my Down the Rabbit Hole Quilt so it was refreshing to just fusible web appliqué  these cute ornaments.  It is super quick to use this method as well.

Here they are all together.  I think I need a plate of cookies and a glass of milk just looking at them:)❤️❤️. SWEET!

Thank you for dropping by today.   Please feel free to follow along. I always love making new friends:)

  1. Golly, Christmas starts earlier every year! Down here, it’s a time of year for cool clothes, lots of air conditioning and definitely no quilts! Which is perhaps why I’ve never been tempted to make a Christmas quilt…

  2. And now you are two blocks ahead of me! LOL I am dedicating tomorrow to that and finishing the August Holly Cottage Block which just needs the squares that border it. I LOVE your red candy cane fabric. That is just so perfect!
