Finished! It always feels so good to have a quilt quilted and bound. Yea! This quilt is now truly a “Long Time Gone” Quilt. I am excited to be linking it up with Amy’s Creative Side online Quilt Festival.
This quilt is made from the Long Time Gone Quilt pattern by Jen Kingwell. You can buy the pattern online.
Each of the blocks was a lesson in color and tiny piecing. Here are a few of my favorite blocks:
I loved the little churn dash blocks. Each little churn dash is about 3″!
I don’t know why, but these diamonds just seem to tickle my fancy. They look kind of renaissance -ish.
My favorite blocks by far were the pineapples. I loved piecing them with the little 1″ strips. And I love the look of them. So fun!
I had such a good time sewing along with Gnome Angel and all of my online adventure quilters. But my favorite was sewing along with my quilting friend, Cindy.
We enjoyed comparing techniques and finished quilting results. Don’t we look happy holding up our finished quilts?!
It’s time to roll this quilt up and put it in the quilt cabinet. I am saving this one to give to a grandchild someday. It may be a Long Time before it finds it’s final home. I will enjoy looking at it until then!
Thank you for dropping by. If you are visiting from the Quilt Festival, please leave a comment so I can go and see your finished Quilt as well:)
Gosh that looks like a quilt filled with a lot of love! I love your colours, so happy and vibrant! One very lucky grandchild will receive this one!

Good plan! It’d be a pity to put that pretty thing away in a dark cupboard straight away!

It is definitely a busy quilt. I think that is one of the reasons I like Jen Kingwells designs. Thank you for dropping by and your kind comment Barb❤️

Such an amazing accomplishment. Your quilt looks to special to be rolled up and stashed away. I hope your future grandchild will realize how blessed they will be to receive it.

It’s a wonderful finish. I saw you and some others making it along the way, and it really turned out well. I like that you and your friend’s quilts are not identical.

I rarely buy patterns, but my resistance to that one is being worn down and yours is part of the temptation. What a happy and interesting quilt! Well done!

Wow!!! So many pieces and so tiny! Breathtakingly beautiful. Great name for this quilt and love the reference that it may be a long time until it finds a home.

I love this quilt! I’m wondering though, how do you pick all the fabrics for a quilt like this?

Hi Kate! I started with a fat quarter stack. You can see the stack here https://itsatsweetsday.blog/?s=Fold. That ensured that my fabrics started in a color family that I liked then I filled in with fabrics I had in my stash or scrap basket from other quilts. Fat quarter bundles or jelly rolls or charm packs are a great way to make choosing a fabric color scheme easy! Good question!❤️

Thanks! I am hoping to do a sampler quilt sometime but I wasn’t sure how to choose the fabrics. This helps a lot!
