Here we are, three weeks gone in the blink of an eye! I have been busy cutting, arranging, and stitching on my Simple Folk quilt. While I didn’t get as much done as last time, I did get four more blocks done. Yea!
I have now finished all 12 of my center appliqué blocks. The last one is one of my favorites.
I like the stems and leaves. It is just a happy, pretty Block. The next set of blocks are my colorful border blocks. These blocks all have animals on them and LOTS of teeny tiny appliqué pieces.
The eyes and ears are especially tricky. I just take a deep breath and make one little stitch at a time. It all works out:)
Here is my little squirrel.
The eye disappeared with black and the white looks a little creepy. I may go back and add a bit of black, but then he may look like a cartoon character…. I think there is so much going on in this quilt that that little white eye will probably not show up at all! I am going to wait and see:)
I really like the wings on my cute chicken. That double layered wing is quite a pretty touch.
Yep, I am having a great time with my Simple Folk quilt. If you are interested in making your own, you can order the pattern here .
Well, that’s it for this update of Hand Quilt Along. If any of you want to join along, here is how–
This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.
Kathy, Lori, Margaret, Kerry, Emma, Tracy, Deb, Connie, Susan, Nanette, Edith, Sharon, Karrin, and Gretchen
I am sure that my next update will be lucky to get one block done because it is Spring Break and I am going on vacation. Pictures of Thailand will be on their way:) –SWEET!
Until next time,
How about a green eye for the squirrel? It would stand out but not be too creepy. Still in love with all your fabrics!

I love each block! All the animals are sooooo very cute. What a lot of work, though! I can totally see the squirrel with a green eye, but I think he looks just fine with the white one.

nice hand stitching – I do more hand work than machine work most of the time – it is so rewarding.

Hi Karen! I’m so glad you stopped by:). I agree with the sense of accomplishment that comes with hand stitching. It seems like the quilt has memories of moments in time sewn in. Have a great day!!❤️
