HQAL Update

Its time to share my progress on my Simple Folk Quilt. This summer has been crazy busy with other projects, so I am very happy to have finished the two blocks I had already cut out.

First, Mr. Peacock is done–

I really like this block. His little masked is just the cutest thing!

And the domestic unicorn is finished too.

This block really should have been a show stopper, but I know the fabrics are really competing for center stage,

It didn’t seem like it was going to do that when I cut them out, but once I started sewing, it became quite obvious. By that time, I was tired and definitely didn’t want to cut all those tiny pieces again!

Oh well, it’s a border block and probably won’t show up that much anyway. Isn’t there a quilting rule that says that every quilt needs an imperfection to show that we are all human or something like that? Hmmm.. where did I hear that, do any of you remember?

Now I’m going to be thinking about that all day! Lol!!!

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another.  If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

  1. Your applique’ work is spot on perfect!!!!! Imperfection or not it is amazing. I am totally feeling that to busy feeling, wrong fabric choice with my ‘T’ quilt blocks ~ Sharon

  2. Yes, that’s a rule – goes back to the story of Arachne in Greek mythology, actually. The blocks are both so nicely worked, and when it’s all together, no one block is going to stand out over the others, so I don’t think you have to concern yourself too much with fabrics arguing with each other. =)

  3. These blocks have all kinds of energy and zip! I understand how you feel about the unicorn but I also agree that doing it over again, with all those tiny pieces, would be just too much!
