Chocolate Chip Cookie Quest Complete!

Over the last month or so, I have made batch after batch of chocolate chip cookies asking all of my friends and family if this one or if this one is the BEST cookie. There have been thick ones and thin ones, some with nuts and some without.

I tried one recipe and literally forgot to put in two cups of flour and had a flat crispy mess. I was about to throw them all away when my husband said, “Stop! Those are the BEST cookies I have ever had!” What?!! Are you crazy?!

So.. What I have learned is that, wait… believe it or not, we all have different ideas of what the BEST cookie tastes like. Can you believe it? Lol!

Even with all of the different tastes, I have done it. I have found, or better said created, the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie recipe. It is a recipe that can be substantial and heavy or light and crisp. Either way it is always crisp on the outside and slightly chewy in the inside. Yum!!

I have worked up this recipe to be made to taste the way YOU like them. I suggest trying them both skinny and fat. Who knows, you may be like my husband and realize that you are a skinny cookie lover!

Make It Your Own Chocolate Chip Cookies

Recipe by Tracy @ It’s a T-Sweets Day!

Makes 2 dozen Large Cookies

Heat oven to 350*

  • 1 1/4c softened butter
  • 1 1/4c brown sugar
  • 1c granulated sugar
  • 2 lg eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Cream above all together until light and fluffy. add-

  • 2 to 3c flour — this is what makes the cookie yours. Add 2c for skinny, 3c for thicker, and anywhere in between to your own liking.
  • 1 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp course salt
  • 2 c chocolate chips
  • 1/2c butterscotch chips
  • 2c chopped nuts …optional
  • 1c sugar in a small bowl

Combine flour, soda, powder, and salt and then add chocolate chips and nuts. Form into balls. Roll in sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350* for 12 -14min until edges are brown and crisp. Drop pan on hot pad on counter to deflate cookie. Let cool a bit before eating. Yum!!!!

There you go. I can always tell when I have a winning recipe… the cookies are all gone! Really, I have made batches and batches of these and between me, my family, and neighbors we are lucky to have a few left for a treat with lunch tomorrow!

I hope you enjoy these cookies as much as we do. Please give them a try and let me know how you like them. Skinny or thick? What is your favorite?

  1. This is the best recipe EVER!!! My family likes 2 cups chocolate chips. No butterscotch and no nuts. I use 2 3/4 cup flour. I never have left overs!!! Thanks Tracy.

  2. Because of the original hoarding at the beginning of this corona virus adventure, my daughter (who has grounded us) could only find roasted coconut brown sugar. I still had just a little bit of regular brown sugar. So Tuesday I gave myself permission to take a break from mask making and made chocolate chip cookies. They actually turned out pretty good. I think I prefer the normal brown sugar, but these are good. One of our granddaughters moved in with us when her university closed and will stay with us until it is safe for her to fly home. She said she liked these cookies better than the usual cookies.

    1. Hi Roseanne:). You can’t get sugar?! Oh no!… I went to Costco the other day and was able to buy 50lbs no problem. Ugh! What is life if we can’t have cookies? Lol! I hope your stores are restocked soon. Love you😊❤️❤️

  4. LOL, well, my first change is …. You’ve had a lot of fun baking, whatever the result. Isn’t it funny what is or isn’t available in different parts of the country? I laughed about your husband, too. You just never know.
