This is “Wish Upon a Star” Blog Hop week, and it is my turn to share with you some “starry” fun!

But first I want to thank Carol @ Just Let Me Quilt for organizing this fun hop. Thank you Carol!

I am excited to share with you my Seeing Red Stars Quilt. It is a Buggy Barn pattern which means fun, fun fun! They have a unique way of cutting where you stack your fabrics, cut, move the top of a few cut piles to the bottom and sew them back together again. The end result looks like this:

I just love all of those scrappy star points:). It is hard to believe they are all made with 12 fat quarters of red and 12 fat quarters of white. CRAZY!
Well, that isn’t exactly true. I also had to make hundreds of secondary stars as well.

I was all “Flying Geesed” out by the end. But it was worth it. Here are a few more SWEET eye candy pictures for you to enjoy:

Isnt quilt candy the best kind of candy? No calories!!❤️❤️

Hi Tracy,
Beautiful starry finish for today! I love red – it’s my favorite color and it looks so great in all of its fabulous shades here. I can just feel all the quilty goodness, and I love the stars in your quilting. Perfecto! Hmm, I believe you suggested using blush or crayons for shading, although I’ve never tried the crayon method – it looks easy enough. I think I have three chances – I’m pretty darn sure I follow you on IG! Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

First let me say what a beautiful star quilt! I was wondering where I could find the pattern and now I know I have a chance to get it easily. Let me say it is a win regardless as I know know how to shade for skin blush at least. I just need to raid my blush. I had no idea it would stay on fabric. If only it would stay on my face. I like the idea of crayons, too. I’d have to remember to set the crayon with an iron and not get it on my iron. The red really pops in this quilt. I have a friend who used to have a band and they toured doing USO tours. Her favorite color is red. This would be a perfect quilt for her.

Hi Susan! It is so nice to meet you! This would be a PERFECT quilt for a USO performer. You could even change a few of the reds for navy blues. I’m glad I gave you some inspiration on shading techniques. Let me know if you give them a try sometime😊❤️

I use blush or a scrapbooking chalk for shading. If I’m brave I get out the old tole paints and paint it on. LOL!

I’m so glad you liked my stars quilt. I’m sorry that I was not more clear in my blog, but it took way more than 24 fat quarters. That amount was just for the center Stars. The rest of the quilt took yardage. The amts are in the book. I hope you win do you can make one too:)

Beautiful quilt!! I loved the pattern and the red and white scrappiness. I read your shading post where you use blush or crayons to add a bit of color when needed. I can see where the heat setting would set the crayon so it wouldn’t wash out but is the blush needed to be reapplied after each was or does it stay, too?

Hi Karen! Great question. I used blush on a doll for my daughter and she played with it for years. I may have touched it up once or twice, but the color stayed. I’m so glad to have met you!! It is good to have quilty friends❤️❤️

Oh yes I have made a Buggy Barn quilt in the past – I was intimidated by the paper template/pattern where you cut up the fabric using the pattern on the fabric but it worked out quite well! Your stars quilt is lovely! Oh and by the way – what documentary was I to start watching? It left my mind – oops and not sure what post you mentioned it 🙂 thanks!
