I am so happy to be working on appliqué again! There is something slow, gentle and precise about it that really is satisfying. Maybe I am just in a crazy world and need a bit of simplicity in my life.

I am tired of the ugly and loud voices that seem to be screaming all around the country and world. We all could use a bit of Simple Folk mentality. I like how the many colors of my quilt dance happily together. They join together to make a happy whole.

They don’t scream at me because I follow the pattern and manipulate the small pieces into the circle and leaf designs. Each piece is beautiful and I love them all.

Sometimes the points don’t match exactly, but the effort put into that piece was harder and more thought provoking than the easy piecing. I can look at that hard earned connection and remember with gratitude that it ever came together at all. Should I throw away the whole because of a few mismatched points? Of course not!

I like how it takes effort to think outside the box to fix, to repair, or just accept the block for what it is. Each piece is trying the best it can.
I wish the world would stop yelling, stop making decisions based on fear and go back to simple. Simply live together in kindness and not judge others by color, job title, religious belief, face mask or no face mask. I’m tired.
I’m sure the other hand quilters will have a brighter note to think about. I love you, my online friends. Please enjoy the Simple around you whenever and wherever you can find it.

This Hand Quilt Along is an opportunity for hand quilters and piecers to share and motivate one another. We post every three weeks, to show our progress and encourage one another. If you have a hand quilting project and would like to join our group contact Kathy at the link below.

We are all human beings, and a little simple humanity and loving kindness would not go amiss, I agree. Love the fabrics you’re using for this project, especially the one with big red circles on it 🙂

Love this quilt, it is so nice and cheerful. I’m with you on the state of the world at the moment, I’ve stopped reading the news as it was just so depressing and frustrating, I just hide away in my sewing room or garden!

Thank you Claire!! It’s smacking how much a quilt really does tell us about the world around us. It also tells us about the trends of the day and the maker . It is a small piece of history in the msking❤️❤️

If only we could get everyone to hand quilt, even one piece in their life time. I think you hit the nail on the head. They would learn so much about different colors and texture, how they blend and work together, how to figure out differences and make them work. Quilting slows our thought process down, a meditation of sorts on the world around us. Quilting is the perfect metaphor for living the best life one can. Lets start a movement 🙂 Hugs on a great posting Tracy

Quilting just takes me back to a simpler time and lifestyle. Even using modern fabrics, that thread to the past continues and it and is such a stabilizer. Your post is profound and beautiful. If more people would use their hands to create instead of text and scroll, I think we would all benefit!😘

Thank you Tierney! Yes it is a Miss line. I don’t remember the name right off though. These pieces are the border pieces and the are much more crazy than the center pieces which are a lot calmer.
