My mother asked for a new quilt for her bed. Sure Mom:). Why not? Lol! Luckily, I had some fabric that has been waiting for a grandma quilt. It was time.
I found a free pattern online that looked easy, quick, and fun by Jordan Fabrics. I seriously pieced this king sized quilt in two weeks!

The block was super easy to make It was all chain piecing with a fun , VERY EASY curve technique.

Just sew it down, flip it back and sew it again. The curve was super addicting!

One of the reasons I chose this quilt was for the texture. Because my mom is very nearly blind, she will enjoy the textures of the quilting and the fold over fabric. It is a delight to the touch as well as the eye:)
I didn’t follow the layout pattern from Jordan fabrics because I wanted the edge to edge look, and also because I was a bit lazy and didn’t want to think too much. Lol!
I added a solid green topper for a over, because I didn’t want to have to make pillow cases to match! Smart thinking, right?;)

I like fold overs. They give an added dimension to the quilt on the bed.
I was amazed by how the quilting changed the look of this quilt,

It took forever to quilt, but it was so worth it. The curves turned into feather circles that were and are absolutely beautiful!

The fun thing about intricate quilting is that it looks equally as nice on the back. By using a plain backing fabric, this quilt could actually be reversible.

And now, if you are still reading and wanting a bit more eye candy … here are a few more:)

It has been a pleasantly surprising joy to make this quilt for my mom. What started out as what I thought would be a somewhat plain quilt , turned into a treat of a quilt with so many different ways to view it.
The picture below shows how the stars really pop as well as the circles. SWEET!

I highly recommend this pattern. I hope you give it a try. I’m sure you will love it too!
Until next time, I hope your days are filled with creative moments and happy thoughts!

Thank you! Most quilting is straight lines so a curve is a welcome change. I’m so glad you stopped by today. Have a great day!❤️

oh how I wish I could make something as beautiful as that! The piecing part, I could probably manage (almost as well) but it’s the amazing quilting you’ve done on this that really makes it so beautiful!

Thank you Claire! I agree with the difficulty of this quilt. The piecing was easy but the quilting was tricky. I think it would still be pretty even worth a simple quilt pattern, but this feather circle sure does pull it over the top. Thank once again. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!❤️

Thank you Kathy! The curve really makes this quilt look difficult but it’s not at all. I absolutely enjoyed piecing those blocks. I’m sure my mom is going to love it!❤️❤️

It’s beautiful and she’s going to LOVE it. I can imagine lying in bed at night running my fingers over that lovely texture, and the quilting and fabrics play so well together, neither one overpowering the other. A really outstanding quilt, congratulations!

Thank you Kate! Isn’t it fun to quilt for someone in particular? I thought of my mother so much while piecing and quilting. ❤️❤️

Yes, I agree! Almost every one of my quilts is made with a specific person in mind, and it’s so satisfying to put into that quilt your love and care for the person it’s meant for.

Oh my goodness that is gorgeous! Nearly too pretty for a utility bed quilt, I would want to put it up on a wall! That was brilliant to make a topper instead of pillow cases. The quilting is amazing! It really adds to the quilt!
